Total Solar Eclipse Mallorca 2026

A Shadow Across Mallorca: Astrologer Meghan Rose on the August 2026 Total Solar Eclipse

What to Expect When Mallorca Experiences One of Europe's Most Extraordinary Celestial Events

On August 12, 2026, Mallorca will find itself at the centre of one of nature's most extraordinary spectacles: a Total Solar Eclipse.

As the moon passes directly between the Earth and the sun, residents and visitors across the island will witness a rare moment of totality, when daylight briefly fades and the landscape is transformed beneath an otherworldly twilight. Beginning at 7.38pm, the eclipse will reach totality at 8.31pm before concluding at 8.49pm, making Mallorca one of the most sought-after locations in Europe to experience this remarkable celestial event.

For a few unforgettable minutes, temperatures may drop, birds may fall silent and the familiar rhythms of the natural world may pause. Scientists can explain precisely how and why a solar eclipse occurs. Yet despite our modern understanding, eclipses continue to evoke wonder, curiosity and even a sense of reverence.

There is something deeply primal about watching the sun disappear from the sky.

It was this fascination that led me to attend a recent workshop at the five-star Zoëtry Mallorca Hotel, where American astrologer, author and spiritual mentor Meghan Rose shared her insights into both the emotional and symbolic significance of the forthcoming eclipse.

Why Are We So Fascinated by Eclipses?

For thousands of years, solar eclipses have captured the human imagination.

Ancient civilisations viewed them as omens, messages from the gods or moments of profound transformation. Today, while science provides us with a detailed understanding of the mechanics behind eclipses, many people remain intrigued by their emotional and psychological impact.

Most of us are familiar with the moon's influence on our planet. The most visible example is the tides, governed by the moon's gravitational pull. Considering that the human body is comprised of approximately 60 per cent water, it is perhaps unsurprising that many wonder whether celestial events might also affect us on a more subtle level.

While astrology remains outside the realm of scientific measurement, it continues to attract a growing audience interested in self-awareness, personal growth and emotional wellbeing. With Mallorca sitting directly within the path of totality for this historic event, I was curious to hear Meghan's perspective on how people living on the island may experience it.

"Eclipses interrupt the ordinary rhythm of life," Meghan explained. "Even if someone understands the science behind them, there is still something deeply primal about watching the light disappear when it is normally light."

According to Meghan, eclipses have long symbolised endings, revelations and accelerated change.

"Psychologically, they tend to bring unconscious emotions to the surface," she said. "Spiritually, I think eclipses remind people that life is cyclical and far bigger than our individual timelines. They invite surrender, reflection and a willingness to trust what is unfolding, even when we cannot fully see it yet."

Who is Meghan Rose?

Meghan Rose is an American astrologer, author and spiritual mentor known for blending modern astrology with practical tools for self-development and emotional growth. Through her workshops, online community and teachings, she encourages people to approach astrology not as a predictive tool, but as a framework for self-awareness, healing and personal transformation.

Her growing international audience reflects a broader movement towards conscious living, mindfulness and holistic wellbeing.

How Do Eclipses Affect Us Emotionally?

For those who remain sceptical about discussions of "energy shifts", Meghan offers a refreshingly grounded perspective.

"I think of eclipse energy less as magic and more as heightened awareness," she said. "People often notice sleep disruption, emotional sensitivity, sudden moments of clarity, unexpected endings or conversations that shift the direction of their lives."

Whether one views these experiences through an astrological lens or simply as part of being human, there is no denying that significant events often encourage us to pause and reflect.

Perhaps this is why eclipses continue to resonate so deeply.

They create a natural interruption to our routines.

They encourage us to look up. To slow down. To pay attention.

In a world increasingly dominated by distractions, that alone may be their greatest gift.

Why Mallorca is a Powerful Place to Experience Totality

Perhaps what makes this eclipse even more intriguing is Mallorca itself.

Do places possess their own energetic imprint? Meghan believes they do.

"One of my areas of study is astrocartography, or locational astrology, which looks at the relationship between place and personal energy," she explained. "Mallorca has a naturally reflective quality that creates space for people to slow down. During an eclipse, environments that encourage presence and nervous system regulation can make the experience feel more profound."

Having lived on the island for over two decades, I can certainly understand what she means.

There is something about Mallorca's rhythm that invites introspection. Perhaps it is the sea, the majestic Tramuntana mountains, the quality of light, the magnetic energy of the landscape or simply the slower Mediterranean pace of life.

Whatever the reason, many people come to Mallorca seeking more than sunshine.

They come seeking reconnection.

The island has become an increasingly important destination for wellness retreats, holistic therapies, mindfulness practices and conscious living experiences. Against this backdrop, it feels entirely fitting that Mallorca should become one of Europe's most significant eclipse-viewing destinations.

The Rise of Astrology and Conscious Living

The growing interest in astrology forms part of a wider shift towards what many describe as conscious living.

Practices such as meditation, breathwork, energy healing, yoga and mindfulness continue to attract those searching for greater meaning and connection in their lives.

According to Meghan, this trend reflects a collective desire to reconnect with ourselves.

"We live in a time of constant overstimulation and uncertainty," she said. "Many people feel disconnected from themselves despite being hyper-connected digitally. At their best, spiritual practices help people feel less alone and more empowered while navigating life."

One aspect of Meghan's philosophy that particularly resonated with me was her belief that intuition and critical thinking are not opposing forces.

"They absolutely can and should coexist," she said. "Intuition without discernment can become projection, and critical thinking without intuition can become disconnected. The healthiest spiritual practice encourages curiosity, accountability and grounded self-awareness."

It is a perspective that feels especially relevant today.

We need not abandon rational thought to appreciate wonder, nor dismiss intuition simply because it cannot be measured by conventional means.

How to Prepare for the Total Solar Eclipse

For those wondering how best to prepare for the eclipse, Meghan's advice has little to do with astrology and everything to do with wellbeing.

"Simplify," she said. "Create more space in your schedule, reduce unnecessary noise and pay attention to what your body is asking for. People often underestimate how much clarity comes through rest, hydration, intentional movement and honest conversations."

She also encourages patience.

"Eclipses tend to reveal information in layers," she explained. "Give yourself a few weeks before making impulsive decisions if possible."

In a culture that often celebrates busyness and constant action, this may be some of the most valuable advice we can receive.

Whether or not one subscribes to astrological interpretations, there is wisdom in allowing emotions, insights and experiences time to settle before acting upon them.

Witnessing History Beneath a Mallorcan Sky

As August approaches, thousands of people are expected to gather across Mallorca and the Balearic Islands to witness this rare celestial event.

Some will come for the science. Others for the spectacle.

Many simply for the experience of standing beneath a darkened sky alongside friends, family and strangers.

For Meghan, that shared experience is part of the magic.

"Anywhere people are intentionally gathering to witness the event together will naturally amplify the emotional atmosphere," she said.

Perhaps that is the true significance of an eclipse.

Beyond astrology. Beyond science. Beyond symbolism.

It offers something increasingly rare in modern life: a moment when we collectively pause, look upwards and remember that we are part of something infinitely larger than ourselves.

On August 12, 2026, as darkness briefly falls across Mallorca and stars appear in the daytime sky, we may each take away something different from the experience.

But one thing is certain. It will be a moment none of us will ever forget.
